We ship worldwide from Shanghai and Rotterdam. Orders leave the studio within two business days.

We confirm stock and freight by email before anything is charged, so the total shown when you order is the goods only. Import duties and taxes are set by your own customs authority and are not included — we tell you the freight cost before you commit, and the carrier collects any duty on delivery.

Ceramic objects are packed in moulded pulp and double-boxed. If a parcel arrives damaged, send us a photograph within 14 days and we will replace the piece.

You have 30 days from delivery to return anything that has not been used or lit. We refund within five business days of the parcel arriving back with us, using the same method you paid with.

Because each piece is made by hand, the object you receive will differ slightly from its photograph. That variation is not a defect and is not grounds for a return.

If something is genuinely wrong — a crack, a kiln fault, a misdescribed size — contact us and we will cover return shipping and replace it.

Are the objects dishwasher safe? No. Every piece here is hand-finished porcelain or unglazed stoneware, and all of it should be washed by hand.

Will my piece look exactly like the photograph? Not exactly. Pierced patterns, erosion and glaze pooling all vary between firings, which is how you can tell it was made rather than manufactured.

Do you restock sold-out pieces? Usually yes, but not on a fixed schedule — restocks depend on when the studio next fires.

Can I use a candle other than the one supplied? Yes, any standard tealight or a pillar candle up to 4 cm across.

Every order gets a reference like BAI-7K4QM2 when you place it. Keep it — it is how we find your order if you write to us.

You can follow an order at any time on the Track an order page, using that reference and the email you ordered with. There is no account to create.

When your parcel leaves the studio we add the carrier and the tracking number to that page, and email you the same details.

Every product page lists exact dimensions in centimetres. As a rough guide for a table or shelf: the incense objects occupy about 18 cm, the candle holders about 9 cm, and the vases about 10 cm.

If you are choosing a gift and are unsure, the incense pieces and the cups are the most forgiving on scale. The scholar's rock needs a surface of its own.

We are happy to send additional photographs against a ruler before you order. Write to us and we will photograph the exact piece.
