Smoke · Incense Object
A miniature mountain range in unglazed stoneware, with a single opening at the summit for a stick of incense.
$89
Mist No. 01 is thrown, then built up and carved while the clay is still soft, so the ridgelines run the way a real range runs: taller at one end, falling away into foothills. It is fired unglazed in a reduction atmosphere, which gives the surface its speckled pale grey and leaves the clay able to take on warmth over time.
An incense stick sits upright in the hollow at the summit. As the smoke rises it reads as cloud moving across the peaks — the whole object is a small weather system for a table.
Wipe with a dry cloth. Rinse the incense channel occasionally under warm water and dry fully in the open air before using again.
